Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an writer of 15 novels. Arianna Huffington is an author, philanthropist, television personality and the owner of the independent open online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Her move out of Greece to England when she was 16 years old, and obtained a MA at Cambridge University in Economics. The first non-English student to graduate, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. After graduation she made her name as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and, with the launching of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that offered critical observations about the current political climate. Her popularity allowed her to persuade a number of celebrities to contribute their opinion on current events, culture and politics. Arianna first gained notoriety when she ran for California's recall election, replacing then Governor Davis. In addition, she led the Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Her name was voted as the most Popular Women in Media according to Forbes in 2009, and was awarded 12th position on that list. In the same year Guardian included her in the 100 most influential media on their list. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she was named president of the media company. This included many AOL properties at the time like Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli Stasinopoulos is the daughter of Konstantinos an advisor to management and journalist. Though she was close to her father, it was her bond with her mother that formed her life. In her earliest period, she displayed the qualities of a leader for which are still prominently known. When she was 16, she moved from America to the United Kingdom and enrolled Girton College Cambridge. In the time of her studies she was a member of the Cambridge Union debating group where she rose to become the first woman and the only foreign president. In 1972, she earned a degree in Economics. She became a writer, a critic television host, and columnist upon her graduation. Additionally, she starred together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started making books with the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
