April Ross
April Ross was one of only a few women beach volleyball players who have won medals at multiple Olympics. Alix Klineman is the newest Olympian who will be joining the team in Tokyo. Ross is hoping to secure the Olympic first gold medal, but she is also aiming to win more. Since she's 39 years old she could have her last chance. Her optimism is that she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross said on NBC Boston: "If we perform our best and if we just play well, I think we could win the gold medal." "I'm also going to try to have a bit of luck." Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents and sister lived there. Ross competed in many sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. She competed in basketball and track in addition to her volleyball skills in the indoors as a prep athlete. She was clearly the best at the sport of indoor volleyball. During her high school career she was a middle blocker outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court, according to her bio at the college. Her efforts were recognized by her being named 1999 Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year.
